This painting was just for fun. I wanted to capture a wild fox being silly. If you have a love of animals you'll find a lot of joy in this painting. I chose to keep the background plain to keep the fox sticking his tongue out and his crossed eyes the focal point. 

My process for this included studying a lot of foxes and various reference photos to create the sketch for this painting. After I sketched it out, I did a value study in Copic markers before applying my underpainting wash.  I decided to keep some of the sketch lines visible as I painted this time. I liked how it added an illustrative look to the fox. I blocked in color bit by bit, blending where needed and leaving a little rough edges where it made sense.
