I love the desert, I always have and I love every chance I get to explore it through painting.  This painting was inspired by another artist, Jim Musil and his paintings of the Saguaro Desert. I appreciate his willingness to share techniques and exploring art with others. So I painted this with my own style, keeping the clouds fractal and adding little hidden elements of my own.  

My process here is much the same as my other paintings, I always start with a pencil sketch and then a full value study for the underpainting, using both markers and an acrylic wash.  My techniques for adding color vary from bold painterly brushstrokes to tiny detail work with liner brushes. Though, I often only use 1-2 brushes per painting.
